About the artist
Rabiu Adeleke was born in Osogbo on the 3rd march, 1942 at Oke Abesu Compound, Osogbo.
In 1963, he worked with Geogina Beier and Ulli Beier as house boy. From there he developed interest in Art. In 1968, Rabiu joined Asiru Olatunde (one of Osogbo first generation artist) workshop where he discovered copper, Aluminum and Brass plate panel beating designing.
Education
After his primary education at Saint John’s School, Ita Olowokan, Osogbo, he attended Saint Mark’s Modern School, Old Ikirun rd, Osogbo where he passed out in 1963.
Exhibitions
He spent 17 years with the late Asiru Olatunde. Between 1968 and 1985, He started his own Studio on January 2oth, 1985 and his works have been exhibited in group shows in Nigeria and other countries like America, Germany, Ghana and Togo.
His several works are with Fred Akpomuje in Lagos, Joe Musa in Anthony, Lagos. Suzanne Wenger’s house in Osogbo. Chief Muraina Oyelami in Iragbiji. Ayo Idubo in Benin city, Quintensence in Ikoyi, Falomo, Lagos and at Osogbo Artist’s Village etc.
